For their exotic cruises, AmaWaterways offers their distinctive all-balcony ship, AmaDara, on the Mekong River for guests traveling in Vietnam and Cambodia. The Zambezi Queen is a sustainable “floating lodge” for wildlife cruises on the Chobe River in Africa, offering space for just 28 guests. The stunning AmaDahlia accommodates just 72 guests while sailing Egypt’s Nile River and offers a wealth of amenities that include a heated sun-deck swimming pool and bar, the Chef’s Al Fresco Restaurant, hair and nail salon and two massage rooms.

All AmaWaterways’ ships in Europe are members of the prestigious La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, a prestigious international gastronomic society dedicated to fine cuisine. In addition, our Culinary Director, Chef Robert Kellerhals was invited to join the prestigious French association, Tables et Auberges de France, which recognizes culinary excellence. Under his guidance, AmaWaterways’ culinary team crafts menus with the finest and freshest local ingredients. Selections change daily, featuring locally-inspired gourmet cuisine and traditional favorites.

AmaWaterways offers a variety of dining venues—included in the river cruise fare—including The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant. Guests watch as the chef prepares a multi-course tasting menu with decadent desserts—served with carefully hand-selected wines reflective of the places visited. The flagship of AmaWaterways’ fleet, AmaMagna offers four unique restaurants, including Jimmy’s Restaurant, offering a family atmosphere, and the Al Fresco Restaurant, serving vegetable-forward fare.

On board, guests can enjoy unlimited complimentary wines from Europe’s great wine regions, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner on board, as well as during a daily complimentary Sip & Sail cocktail hour.

A Variety of Included Shore Excursions
AmaWaterways recognizes every traveler is unique, so they have carefully curated a variety of included shore excursions in every port to tempt even the most seasoned travelers. Guests have the freedom and flexibility to choose from up to six tours each day, led by a knowledge local guide and offered in small groups. For guests who wish to get more active, guided hiking and biking adventures take travelers well beyond the typical tourist paths, deep into the rich culture and natural beauty. “Special Interest Tours”, also included at no additional cost, encourage further immersion into local culture, such as truffle hunting in Avignon, baking fresh pretzels in Wertheim and tasting Kölsch beer in Cologne. Guided city tours are also offered at three different activity levels: for gentle walkers, regular walkers and active walkers, to ensure everyone’s individual needs are met. There are even some excursions for late risers who prefer to sleep in.

Complimentary Wellness Program
AmaWaterways has always been passionate about promoting health and wellness. As the first river cruise line to provide complimentary bicycles and safety helmets, AmaWaterways is always looking to further activate guests’ vacations and offers up to nine included bike tours and up to five included hikes on most 7-night Europe itineraries. In addition, they offer dedicated Wellness Hosts on board European ships and on the Mekong River, leading small-group fitness classes such as yoga, cardio and core strengthening up on the Sun Deck when weather permits. Guests can also keep up their exercise routine on board while soaking in the panoramic views with a jog around the sun-deck walking track or by taking a dip in the pool or whirlpool (or both on board AmaMagna). Later, they can unwind with a massage and indulge in a variety of healthy cuisine choices with menus featuring gluten-free, low-sodium and vegetarian choices.
