First Ever Canadian Travel Industry Hall of Fame to be Established

TravelPulse Canada is providing vital recognition to one of Canada’s most important industries, the first acclaim of its kind.
TravelPulse Canada is creating the “Canadian Travel Hall of Fame,” which will honour individuals who have left a lasting legacy in the world of travel. It’s the first time that Canadian travel entrepreneurs have been given this kind of recognition.
Canada’s travel industry has evolved over the last 50 years into a multi-billion dollar industry that employs thousands of Canadians at home and abroad. There have been many innovators over the past five decades who have shaped the travel industry into the major force it is today.
While there have been some “lifetime achievement awards” issued over that time, those moments are often forgotten. Now, however, those important contributions will be given the attention they deserve.
The “Canadian Travel Hall of Fame” will provide the opportunity to showcase the legacy of those who have been inducted on an annual basis on-line, located at http://www.canadiantravelhalloffame.ca
“We owe a huge debt of gratitude to those who have contributed to the overall development of the travel industry as we know it today,” said John Kirk, President, and Editor in Chief, Travel Pulse Canada. “We felt it was extremely important to create a place where we can highlight their contributions.”
The 2018 inductees are:
Vicky Borenstein - Co-founder of The Last Minute Club for her contribution to retail travel
Patrick Brigham – Founder, Sunquest Vacations – One of the first package tour companies that became a household name
Jean Marc Eustache – Founder of the Transat group of companies, Canada’s largest vertically integrated travel company
Colin Hunter- Chairman – currently Sunwing Travel Group for his contributions to the charter airline and package tour business
Angus J. Kinnear – a charter airline pioneer
Moise Levy - For his contribution to the development of technology which shaped the way vacations packages are managed and sold by the industry.
The inaugural group of nominees will be inducted during Travel Pulse Canada’s “Readers Choice Awards” gala event on May 17th, 2018, at the Steam Whistle Brewery located at the base of CN tower in Downtown Toronto.
Award winning comedian Mr. Ron James will provide the entertainment at the inaugural event. The Travel industry will vote for the best of the best at www.ReadersChoiceAwards.ca. Voting is closed to members of the Travel industry. Watch for an upcoming announcement from Travel Pulse Canada regarding online voting.
The Canadian Travel Hall of Fame is is sponsored in part by TravelBrands.
