Consider a Civil War Themed River Cruise

Here at American Queen Steamboat Company, we know America’s waterways are an easy and accessible way to get around the country.
For all you Civil War history buffs out there, we’ve organized several cruises that allow you to experience the world the same way others did generations ago. With the following attractions, you have the perfect excuse to book one of our Civil War tours.
Savannah, Tennessee is a major stop for any Savannah Civil War tour. In 1862, Savannah was home to the Battle of Shiloh—notorious for being one of the bloodiest battles in the Civil War, as 24,000 lives were lost over just two days.
On the northern edge of Tennessee sits the town of Dover, home to one of the most pivotal Tennessee Civil War sites. It is here that General Grant triumphed against Fort Donelson, which helped secure Kentucky under Union control. Now, Fort Donelson National Battlefield is a beautiful park that’s home to bald eagles and wild animals that shouldn’t be missed.
Book the optional American Select Premium Excursion and explore the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Take a city tour and head out to Lookout Mountain, which will grant you an awe-inducing view of the Tennessee River and Appalachian Mountains. When you’re done there, check out the Tennessee Civil War Museum as an added bonus.
The Blue and Gray Museum, located in Decatur, Alabama, contains a private collection of Civil War relics and memorabilia—giving you a more up-close-and-personal look at American History. If you still don’t have your history fix, visit the Princess Theater and the Carnegie Visual Arts Center.
Paducah, Kentucky is known for the Battle of Paducah—where General Nathan Bedford Forrest and troops successfully captured Union supplies. Here, you can take in a wide array of sights, such as the Moonshine Company, the Lloyd Tilghman House and the National Quilt Museum.
