While the weaker loonie may be generating some pleasant economic benefits, especially when it comes to inbound travel to Canada, it is nothing but a headache for Canadians who are considering international getaways. Experts say the loonie will continue to plummet this year and could fall to an all-time-low of 59 cents by the end of the year.
By that logic, now is the best time to start thinking about—and booking—your next vacation. To help travellers plan their European getaway, Trafalgar is launching a “buy one, get one for 30 per cent off” savings on select trips to Europe.
The campaign, which is scheduled to run for four weeks, will focus on a new theme each week. New itineraries will be featured each week.
“The first week of Trafalgar’s campaign is all about the romance of travel and we want to ignite the wanderlust in clients with Europe’s inspiring destinations by offering incredible savings on our most romantic trips,” said Wolf Paunic, president of Trafalgar Canada. “From the poetic beauty of the Loire Valley to the romance of Verona, couples who travel with us can relax as every part of their trip is planned and they can enjoy quality time together.”
Through Feb. 22, 2016, Trafalgar has put nine of its most romantic European vacations on sale, with a savings of up to $1,184 per couple. These handpicked trips include accommodations at four-star hotels, many local meals, and VIP access at select attractions and sightseeing locations. This week’s getaways include:
The Treasures of France: Visit the fairy tale chateaux and the vineyards of the rich Loire Valley, stand on Omaha Beach in Normandy and enjoy the famed sights of Paris.
Best of Italy: Explore the cuisine, art and landscapes of Italy. You’ll dive into the nation’s glamourous cities and chill out in its beach destinations.
Italy Bellissimo: Explore Italy from the inside, out, with a final getaway to the sun-soaked island of Capri.
Britain and Ireland Highlights: An epic road trip, you’ll explore the cities of Britain and Ireland while traversing the rolling countryside that inspired so many Romantic Poets.
Italian Concerto: Dive into the old-world charms of Venice, Florence and Rome and then settle in to the laid-back lifestyle along the Amalfi coast.
Prague, Vienna and Budapest: Get off the beaten path and veer away from Europe’s more notable capitals in order to explore the traditions of these three historic riverside cities.
The Balkans and Venice: Explore the remnants of civil war in Sarajevo and Mostar and then switch gears as you soak in the beauty of the Dalmatian coast and Lake Bled.
Italian Glory: If you’re already familiar with Rome, leave the city behind and rather explore the beauty and culture of Milan, Como, Venice, Florence and the Amalfi Coast before returning to Italy’s capital city.
Best of Italy and Sicily: Explore the romance of Italy, from north to south, and dive head-first into the nation’s cultural and geographical diversity.
