Contiki Introduces Two Europe Summer Fams

Travel agents focusing on the millennial market—and possibly those who are just seeking to relive their youth—have the rare chance to experience Europe first-hand but through the eyes of a 20-year-old. Contiki, a travel wholesaler specializing in the youth market, is offering two travel agent fam trips to Europe this summer.
“We couldn’t be more excited to host agents in Europe à la Contiki this spring,” says Sheralyn Berry, Vice President of Sales for Contiki Canada. “Our FAMs are legendary for not only allowing agents to experience Contiki for themselves, but they are also known the world over for allowing life-long friendships to be made. What better way to kick start the summer booking season than by visiting some of the world’s most beautiful locations?”
Both fams are open to agents of all ages, although the trips will be the exact one experienced by millennial travellers. The fam participation fee is $699 but agents can earn back that fee for selling Contiki products after they return.
From the visually stunning village of Lauterbrunnen that’s set against the Swiss Alps to the equally stunning Greek island of Mykonos that’s set against the Aegean Sea, the two FAM’s will feature some of Contiki’s most popular regions in Europe. Below is a description of each FAM.
Western Europe Special Stopover
May 19-25, 2017
Head for Munich to kick off this 7-day exploration of western Europe. Agents will start with a tour of the city’s famed Glockenspiel, a gothic clock with 32 dancing figures and 43 chiming bells. Then it’s on to the Contiki chalet in Lauterbrunnen in the Swiss Alps. Check in at the “Swiss Chalet” (no, not the chicken restaurant), and sample the new MUNCH food program, headed by MasterChef Thomas Castberg who has revamped the menus at all Contiki-owned properties. After a day of on the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Jungfrau Mountain, agents can relax at the chalet’s “The Bombshelter” bar, an actual bomb shelter.
The tour also includes a stay at Contiki’s Gasthof Schoneck, in a tiny Austrian town of 5,000. Enjoy mountain biking, white water rafting and paragliding through the filter of clean mountain air. Agents will also visit the Dachau concentration camp memorial, where they will learn about the Holocaust. Afterwards, it’s back to Munich for a farewell dinner at a local beer hall.
Greece
May 27-June 4, 2017
Spend eight days exploring Greece. The tour starts in Athens with sightseeing at the Acropolis and the Olympic Stadium and plenty of free time to explore the area. The next stop is the island of Mykonos, where agents can sightsee or soak up the sun for two days. In front of the arranged hotel is Paradise Beach, the most famous beach on the island. The next stop is Ios, where guests will enjoy a Sailing Spectacular around the island (weather permitting). Jump in the water or just relax on the pirate ship’s giant sun deck. The tour ends with a final stop in Athens for a farewell dinner before guests return home.
To participate in either tour, agents must have completed the mandatory training modules on the newly launched Contiki U E-learning program. Upon their return, agents who sell any Contiki trips will receive rebates for the fam participation fee. When the agent sells three Contiki trips they will receive 50 per cent back; with ten trips sold, agents will receive a full trip refund. International airfare is not included in this trip, other restrictions apply.
To apply, agents must tell Contiki, in 100 words or more, how they plan to increase their Contiki sales after completing their fam. They must also indicate how many Contiki passengers they sold in 2016 and 2017. Applications must be sent to sales@contiki.ca no later than April 7, 2017, for Western Europe fam and April 13, 2017, for the Greece fam.
