If you’re like most travel agents, you probably have at least one client who’s expressed an interest in travelling closer to home this summer. Or, gulp, indicated that in order to watch their pennies they won’t be travelling at all. At which time they invoke the dreaded “s” word—“staycation.”

According to a recent survey by Tangerine bank, 58 per cent of Canadians said they plan to travel within Canada and/or within their home province this summer.

With so many Canadians staying close to home, travel agents might want to take the time to brush up on their knowledge of domestic travel options this season. To that end, Anderson Vacations has announced that they will once again be hosting their Canadian MEGAFAM in partnership with destination organizations across Canada

Up to 30 travel agent or tour operator partners will have the chance to travel to some of the nation’s most stellar destinations.

MEGAFAM groups will visit British Columbia, Manitoba, Alberta, Newfoundland & Labrador, Ontario or Quebec to highlight some of the top experiences in Anderson Vacation’s catalogue. Each MEGAFAM consists of a small group of travel professionals, allowing for maximum in-destination learning and experiences.

All MEGAFAM departures occur at the same time, and for the event’s grand finale, all regional sub groups will meet up in Whistler, British Columbia, where they meet the Anderson Vacations team and share their travel experiences with their colleagues.

Agents will qualify for the fam with every Anderson Vacations booking they make in Canada or Alaska between April 4 and Aug. 8. Naturally, agents booking more passengers have a better chance of winning a slot on a fam.

The Canadian MEGAFAM will take place Oct. 23-30, 2016.
