travAlliancemedia, LLC is proud to announce the hiring of travel media veteran Joe Pike, effective June 11. Pike, who spent the last 12 years with Questex Media Group, will serve as Senior Editor for the company’s various products and websites.
Pike has spent more than the last 10 years as senior editor and Caribbean expert for Travel Agent magazine. During his tenure with Questex Media Group, Pike has also extensively covered Mexico, Central and South America, Bermuda and Hawaii.
“It’s really exciting to begin a new chapter of my travel career with a company that continues to come up with fresh ideas and initiatives to keep the travel agent industry, travel media and tourism in general thriving,“ said Pike.
In 2009, Pike was awarded the Jamaica Tourist Board's Marcia Vickery-Wallace Memorial Award for Excellence in Travel Journalism. Pike then won the Caribbean Tourism Organization's Inner Circle King Award for Best Feature Article in a Trade Publication in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016. His article on pitching the LGBT market to the Caribbean won the top award at the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Caribbean Travel Media Awards in 2016.
“I look forward to further strengthening all of those really close relationships that I’ve been building for more than a decade in the Caribbean, Mexico, Latin America, Hawaii and the rest of the world,” said Pike.
“I’ve always enjoyed speaking with Joe at industry events and know his work well. He’s a real pro and a great addition to our already outstanding team of writers and editors,” said Mark Murphy, CEO of travAlliancemedia. “With Brian Major and Joe Pike on the same team, travel agents, travel suppliers and destinations will have the best of both worlds when it comes to editorial coverage in several of our key markets.”
Joe received his master's degree in Newspaper, Magazine and Online Journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Before his travel media career, Pike was previously a newspaper reporter for the Asbury Park Press in Neptune, New Jersey, covering local news.
