John Kirk Named President and Editor-in-Chief of TravelPulse Canada

A year after launching TravelPulse Canada, travAlliancemedia, the North American media company known for its award-winning travel content, is preparing to launch Phase 2 of the Canadian travel website TravelPulse Canada and has appointed John Kirk as President and Editor-in-Chief.
Company founder and CEO Mark Murphy said there have been some key learnings since launching the Canadian site just over a year ago and research indicates that Canadian travel agents want something different from reading virtually the same news on every travel media site.
“We have always had an audience of Canadian agents that have been “virtually” crossing the border for more than a decade, looking for information to keep them abreast of all things travel,” said Mark Murphy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of travAlliancemedia, LLC. “We felt it important to give Canadian agents their own unique content, so they can thrive in what they do.
“It was time to create a business that really speaks to this audience in their own voice with the kind of information and tools they need to succeed. We took the step to establish a Canadian corporation, staffed by experts in the market, to bring this to life.”
Murphy said the addition of Kirk gives the Canadian audience a voice it has come to know and trust.
“John Kirk is well known in the Canadian travel industry, having held senior roles with some of Canada’s largest travel companies and will get us to where we want to be,“ Murphy said.
The enhanced site will feature a daily newsletter with a strong focus on Canadian airline and tour operator content, Canadian industry news and events to meet the needs of Canadian travel professionals and their clients. travAlliancemedia has seen more than 25,000 Canadian agents sign up for its U.S. travel information and training tools.
“The suite of products offered by travAlliancemedia is unmatched in the Canadian marketplace. We truly believe our tech innovations will be a welcome addition for advertisers, ” said Kirk.
A search is underway for a Canadian-based Senior Editor to ensure comprehensive Canadian travel content.
travAlliancemedia operates a variety of print and digital products, including TravelPulse.com, Agent@Home magazine and Vacation Agent magazines. Travel Agent Academy, the AgentStudio network of more than 3,500 travel agent websites, Virtual Travel events and a live streaming webinar platform.
TravelPulse is the consumer travel content provider for editorial and video for FoxNews.com and its content is syndicated through Tribune Content Agency, with distribution to 200 U.S. newspapers and more than 7,500 news websites worldwide. Discussions are underway for making consumer travel content available to the Canadian trade for their B2C needs.
“TravelPulse Canada will deliver timely, relevant industry news using the most innovative technology,” said Murphy. “We will leverage our position as one of the world’s largest multi-media travel news companies to take travel news delivery in Canada to a whole new level. We never stop looking for ways to better serve our travel agent audience. With such a great following in Canada, we wanted to make sure our friends to the north have everything they need to succeed.”
“Our mission has always been to provide travel professionals with the tools they need to succeed in business,” said Murphy. “To that end, we are investing in our Canadian site to provide our loyal Canadian travel agent readers with more targeted digital products.”
