Hotelier Larry Law Recognized for Commitment to Hospitality

Ontario Hotelier Larry Law, President and CEO of Living Water Resort & Spa, has received the 2016 Industry Recognition for his longstanding contributions to the hospitality industry.
The award was presented by the Simcoe Region of the Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association and is bestowed yearly. The recipient must be employed by a restaurant or hotel operating in the region and must demonstrate leadership qualities in a series of criteria, including a longstanding commitment to the restaurant or accommodations industry and demonstrated leadership in driving and supporting Simcoe’s hospitality and tourism industry.

Living Water Resort & Spa a year-round resort and visitor destination is located on the shores of Georgian Bay, less than a two hour drive from Toronto. The resort is currently undergoing its third phase of a development campaign, which wen complete will include 100 new one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites, upgrades to the onsite spa, including a new partnership with Aquapath™ for wellness and re-energizing programs; and a new waterfront restaurant that will offer culinary classes and a raw seafood bar.
Law, who built a community of more than 450 staff, started with the Cranberry Village Inn that was located on the property and eventually built the area into a village made up of a hotel, vacation membership rentals, homes, multiple restaurants, a championship golf course, a marina, a spa and a wedding and conference center. Law plans to continue to grow the tourism sector in Collingwood.
On a personal level, Law is also very involved in the local community. Every Christmas, he donates more than 300 dinners to people in need. He also donated $100,000 to Georgian College and the Library, and he is active in a variety of other charities, locally and abroad.
Law received the award at the annual Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association (ORHMA) Simcoe County Hospitality Awards event. Collingwood Mayor Sandra Cooper presented the award to Warren Smith, who accepted on behalf of Law, who was on a yearly missionary trip to Kenya.
