As the devastating forest fire continues to rip through Fort McMurray, Alta., the entire city—population 60,000--has been evacuated. The fire, which is now blazing across an area of more than 10,000 square miles has prompted the largest evacuation in Alberta’s history.
As terrified residents flee the city, the Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham in Bonnyville and in Whitecourt are offering up to 80 rooms for displaced residents at no charge. Each room can be booked for up to seven days and includes a free breakfast and light dinner for evacuees.
"Our company was built in Alberta and that is where our heart is,” said Eric Watson, Chief Operating Officer. “If you are in need of a place to stay, please call us."
The two properties are owned by MasterBUILT Hotels, which owns a property in Fort McMurray, which has been destroyed by the fire.
To book a room, please call 780-396-0990 (Whitecourt) or 780-687-2120 (Bonnyville). www.masterbuilthotels.com
