TravelPulse on Scene: Affordable Luxury at Hard Rock Los Cabos
Hotel & Resort All-Inclusive Hard Rock Hotels Marsha Mowers December 06, 2022

With 639 rooms, Hard Rock Los Cabos is smaller than some of the company’s other properties, one of the few characteristics that makes the resort so different. There’s still the rockstar vibe Hard Rock is known for, but it’s a bit toned down – literally – to blend in with the Los Cabos landscape. The colour palette of the entire hotel is more subdued; think taupe undertones and light contrasting in the main areas and rooms, giving a (somewhat) serene feel to your stay.
One of only a handful of all-inclusive properties in Los Cabos, Hard Rock could best be described as a fit for travellers looking for affordable luxury in a region that is known for its expensive villas, fine food, celebrities and yachts. It’s a new build, opening just before the pandemic hit. And while the hotel did see a bit of a drop during COVID, they weren’t devastated by it as much as others were since Mexico remained open with travellers flocking to the country like … well, rockstars.

During our stay last week, the hotel was operating at 98% capacity and would be at 100% over the weekend due to a wedding. Hard Rock Los Cabos is home to the biggest convention centre in the area, making it a fan favourite with corporate groups and weddings.
“Many people think the Hard Rock is a hotel only made for people who like rock,” explains Maribel Aguirre, Sales Manager, Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos. “Then they stay with us and see that we are an all-inclusive hotel for everyone, families, couples, groups, and music fanatics. You can hear Punjabi music, country, or rock in the lobby. We believe in putting in a little bit of everything. In the end, we are a musical hotel but not one specific to rock music.”
Indian weddings are very popular at the hotel largely due to the fact the resort can accommodate large groups. There’s an ease of access as well, it makes for a good meeting point for guests who travel from across the US, Canada and Europe with daily direct flights or easy connections from Mexico City. Staff were busy setting up for one during our stay, which Aguirre says a lot of the hotel’s Canadian guests are part of an Indian wedding.
Hard Rock Hotels offer an enticing wedding / vow renewal package across all of their properties. Each property features a mix of edgy and elegant spaces that are ideal for low-key parties or large receptions, with full catering and planning services to ensure a perfect performance. There are also impressive indoor event spaces as well as stunning terraces and private beaches for breathtaking outdoor ceremonies.
Los Cabos in general is a tricky place to swim and many hotels along the Pacific Ocean don’t have swimmable beaches. Hard Rock Los Cabos is one of them, but the resort does make up for it with 7 pools. However, the beach is accessible, so for those travellers really looking for a morning stroll in the sand along the water, it’s possible still to experience.
90% of rooms at Hard Rock are OceanView, whether full or partial. And other than the look and size of the hotel, all other signature Hard Rock offerings are in place; you can still rent a Fender guitar to rock out in your room, you can still play rockstar in your own recording studio, you can still dine like a Queen at one of the many on-site restaurants.
(The Awaken Your Senses experience is a must-do – more on that later this week).
