Special collaboration Natalie Sicard
TravelPulse is currently at the new Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya for the AllStars 2023 hosted by Playa Hotels & Resorts which applauds and thanks top sellers for its hotels in Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
There are 60 agents from North America including 16 from Canada (and one from Quebec). The organizers, Amanda Morris, director of sales for Playa Hotels & Resorts for Canada, assisted by Christopher Jeffrey-Racine, business development manager for Quebec, Ottawa and the Atlantic provinces and Andi Bacho, brand manager for the Ontario takes this opportunity to consolidate their ties with agents and tell us about new developments.

A smaller-scale but equally festive event
The last event of its kind, the Spotlight Awards, which took place in 2020 at the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, brought together more than a hundred agents. The AllStars2023 is on a smaller scale, “but we really wanted to highlight the work of our best agents for the year 2022, especially after the pandemic,” said Amanda Morris. “It must also be said that the recovery in Canada is slower, compared to the United States, but it is on the right track,” she continued. The 2024 edition will return to its original formula and will also bring together hotels from Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

On the program: a Trade Show bringing together, among others, the sales directors of Hyatt Zilara and Ziva in Cancún, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Wyndham Alltra, Yucatan PDC by Hilton, Seadust as well as representatives of AgentCash+ the brand loyalty and rewards for every booking made; themed evenings and prizes to be won, a visit to the brand's hotels in Playa Del Carmen (Hilton PdC, Wyndham Alltra & The Yucatan by Hilton) and an “Oscars evening” to close it all.
A growing hotel portfolio
The Playa properties, present in Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic and counting 24 hotels to date, are on a roll. Fall 2022 saw the opening of Hyatt Zilara Rivuera Maya (formerly Secrets Capri) and the addition to the Playa family of Seadust Cancun Family Resort.
“New developments in 2023 include Jewel Punta Cana and Jewel Palm Beach which just opened in March, as well as Wyndham Alltra Samaná which will open in the fall in the Dominican Republic. And more hotels to come will be announced”.
TravelPulse covers the AllStars gala until May 11, stay tuned for more of our coverage.
