RIU Hotels & Resorts has just opened two new hotels in the Maldives. RIU Atoll and RIU Palace Maldivas are 4-star and 5-star resort complexes located on Dhaalu Atoll, offering suites overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean.
"This is a great moment for the company as we have been working on opening a hotel in the Maldives for more than seven years," said Luis RIU, president and CEO of the Spanish chain. Opening two hotels at the same time, after meeting a fascinating technical and logistical challenge due to the location of the resorts, is a dream come true for me, both personally and professionally. "
"The process required a lot of hard work that began in early 2017 and it took more than two years to create these two resorts offering guests all-inclusive stays," he said.
Located on two separate islands, the two complexes are connected by an impressive 800-meter pedestrian crossing over the water.

The 4-star RIU Atoll is located on the private island of Maafushi. The RIU Classic style hotel has 264 rooms, 36 of which are perched above the water, a main restaurant, the Dhoni, an Italian restaurant, the Sophia, and a steak house, the Beef Steak House.
There is also a 24-hour sports bar, a lounge bar, the Bodeberu, and a pool bar, the Tequila. Among other amenities, guests can enjoy a swimming pool, a children's playground and a kids' club.
RIU Palace Maldivas is located on the neighboring island of Kedhigandu, which is also private. This 5-star resort has 176 rooms located above the water and gives guests access to RIU Atoll's bars and restaurants.
Guests staying there also have exclusive access to the main restaurant, the Palm, which has a terrace. They also have access to the Krystal fusion restaurant and the Yu Salut Japanese restaurant. The hotel also offers its guests the Paradise Bar located in an infinity pool in a relaxing area. The hotel offers high quality drinks throughout the hotel as well as room service.
The interior decoration of hotels is respectful of the environment in which they are located. The chain has opted for warm materials like wood, adding glass elements to give a sense of space and make the most of the light and weather conditions in the destination.
The hotels also include a multitude of open spaces that highlight the spectacular views that overlook the island. The suites and rooms are distinguished by their light shades of sand and aquamarine evoking the sea, and by the magnificent sunrises and sunsets that can be admired from the recluse and paradise destination.
