You expect to have complete privacy in your hotel room. However, for four traveling friends, that was not the case.
A group of four women were visiting Chicago and found a hidden red camera in their hotel, Club Quarters Hotel – Wacker at Michigan, Chicago. They discovered it near the curtains, facing the bed.
What was supposed to be a carefree weekend suddenly turned into one of high stress and worry.
“I started thinking WiFi, does this camera have WiFi? Can someone remotely see this through their phone? We don’t know,” Angela Marek, 21, told CBS 2. “We could be exposed and we don’t know.”
It’s currently unclear if the camera was recording them, but the model does have the capability to be started remotely.
Following the discovery, the women notified hotel management, whom they say, didn’t take it quite seriously.
Kaitlyn Kuruduza, 21, highlighted the seriousness of the matter to CBS 2: “This is something that’s very traumatic, especially for the day and age we are in right now.”
“Four young girls that are freshly 21 are going out to a new city, they don’t really know what they’re doing or where we are going.”
The Chicago Police were notified, and the small camera was taken into evidence. Police could not determine if the camera was recording during the group’s stay.
