Does the World Need More Canada?
Features & Advice Monica Poling October 13, 2016

Sometimes it seems the world is coming apart at the seams. Violence appears to be escalating and civility is at an all-time low. In the words of Cheapflights.ca, “Hate-fueled madness is taking over.”
So what’s the solution? According to Cheapflights.ca, the world just needs a little more Canada.
“Nobody hates Canada, and if they do they probably hate puppies and rainbows too,” says the spokesperson in a new video series promoting the campaign.
In addition to video clips demonstrating why the world needs more Canada, a highly graphical interface lists bargain airfares to key destinations around the world, as well as asides as to why that destination could use more Canada.

While this ad campaign was certainly designed to encourage Candians to embark upon more international travel, it is also a pretty effective of celebrating Canada pride.
At the end of the promotional page, the campaign asks Canadians what CanadaAwesomeness they would export. While this sort of request might encourage serious trolls on other websites, Cheapflights.ca has clearly tapped into a deeply personal Canadian sentiment.
For example, commenter Vikki Tremblay says, “Gotta love us Canadians - what's not to love - hockey, poutine, maple syrup and excuse me EH? Can't think of a better place to come from. Everywhere I travel, they say they love us Canadians. Just got back from Cuba and everyone said that Canadians were the best guests of all the world and that's the truth EH!”
And the love goes on. But what’s especially unusual as far as this sort of interactive campaign goes, is that every comment from the general public celebrating Canadian pride, is met with a positive, personalized response back from Cheapflights.ca.
So maybe it's true. “The world needs you, Canada.”
