As the summer season rapidly approaches, Brewster Travel Canada is getting ready to unveil a brand new terminal building at its flagship attraction, the Banff Gondola. The travel company, which operates some of the most popular attractions in Canada’s Rocky Mountains, announced last year that it was investing $26 million in the redevelopment of the upper terminal building of the Banff Gondola.
"Generations of explorers have visited Banff National Park to discover all it has to offer,” said David McKenna, president of Brewster Travel Canada. “The enhancements…will ensure all future guests are able to harness their spirit of adventure with a world-class mountaintop experience unlike any other in the Rocky Mountains or around the globe," said David McKenna, President of Brewster Travel Canada.
In essence, the old terminal building was demolished, leaving only the foundation, which served as the starting point for the all new building.
Among the building’s new features will be a 40-seat Above Banff theatre, which will air regular screenings of an introductory film with dramatic footage filmed over the Canadian Rockies. Also sure to be a popular new feature will be the expanded rooftop deck, designed to offer 360 degree views of Banff, the Bow Valley and the surrounding Rockies.
While visiting the upper terminal building, guest will now have the opportunity to pick up a healthy snack or a cappuccino or latte at the new grab-and-go style café. Sit down dining is also available. Event planners can utilize the food services at a new conference space that hold up to 150 people, perfect for small weddings or corporate events.
Construction began on September 8, 2015 and continued during the off-season, also a tie believed to have the least potential impact on the local wildlife species. When the summer season opens next month, guests will have limited access to the new terminal building, which is expected to offer full public access by Aug. 1, 2016.
