Hawaii Tourism Officials in Canada Warn of Hurricane Lane Impact
Destination & Tourism Jim Byers August 22, 2018

Hawai’i Tourism Canada and the greater Hawai’i Tourism Authority’s primary concern is public safety – for both residents and the many travellers that visit the Hawaiian Islands. While we realize closures and cancellations may be an inconvenience, this is a powerful storm that could have dangerous implications to those not taking the appropriate precautions.
Canadian travellers planning to travel to or who are already in the Hawaiian Islands should contact their airlines, accommodations and activity providers for information on being prepared, and to make adjustments to travel plans as needed.
The Hawai’i Tourism Authority has created a special alert page on its website to provide industry partners, residents and visitors with information, updates and online resources about Hurricane Lane and its effects on the Hawaiian Islands:
HTA Special Alert Page on Hurricane Lane: https://www.hawaiitourismauthority.org/news/alerts/hurricane-lane-update/
The home page of the GoHawaii website also provides the same link
HTA is closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Lane and will continue to provide updates on the websites as new information becomes available
"Our team at HTA is closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Lane and will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. In the meantime, please see below for the official update and statement from the Hawai’i Tourism Authority," authorities said.
As of late Wednesday night, the storm was some 400 km's south/southwest of the Big Island of Hawaii.
