Canada in an Instant: The Gulf Islands
Destination & Tourism Monica Poling February 12, 2016

If you’re looking for an island getaway with the perfect blend of mild weather, soft-adventure activities, distinctive dining and a bustling artist community, British Columbia’s Gulf Islands offer an alluring getaway.
Cited for their "simpler Pacific Northwest charms,” the Gulf Islands were included on the New York Times' list of “52 Places to Go in 2016.”
The area is also home to Gulf Islands National Park, which is comprised of 15 larger islands and 30 smaller islets. Established as a national park in 2003, the area’s protected plants and sea life include giant kelp beds and killer whales.
Most of the major islands can be reached by B.C. Ferries, but most of the smaller islets are accessible only by water taxi, private boat-or for the adventure seeker—by kayak.
