Nova Scotia’s easterly location and excellent natural harbour has always served as a beacon for sailing ships from around the world. British shipping magnate Sir Samuel Cunard who founded the Cunard Line ships, was even born here.
Almost entirely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Nova Scotia is home to more than 160 historic lighthouses that guided sailors to (mostly) safe passage.
The most-famous lighthouse is Peggy’s Point Lighthouse located in the picturesque Peggy’s Cove fishing village, which is quite possibly one of the most-photographed locations in all of Canada. Take a look at this Instagram tour of Peggy’s Cove and you’ll see why.
