After a two week dry dock, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Pearl sailed into Miami Feb. 27 sporting a fresh, modern look. All staterooms and many of the ship’s public areas were revitalized as part of The Norwegian Edge™, an investment program encompassing the entire guest experience and setting a high standard of excellence for the Norwegian brand.
“Norwegian Pearl is one of our most beloved ships," said Andy Stuart, Norwegian Cruise Line president and chief executive officer. "With this dry dock, we wanted to provide her with a refreshed, clean and modern onboard atmosphere while maintaining the ship’s overall charm and flexibility that our guests enjoy so much. Through The Norwegian Edge program, we are continuing to heavily invest in our fleet to ensure that guests have a consistent experience across all Norwegian ships and the freedom to create their ideal cruise vacation.”
All 1,197 of Norwegian Pearl’s staterooms were refreshed with new furniture, carpeting, and headboards, in shades of blue with silver and turquoise accents. Each stateroom also received new televisions and USB outlets so guests can charge their handheld devices.
All suites and villas in The Haven by Norwegian®, Norwegian’s ship-within-a-ship luxury suite complex, received extensive modernizations. And the Haven Courtyard has been completely refurbished, with new finishes and furniture, including new cabanas, giving the area a resort-style aesthetic.
"Our Canadian travel partners have absolutely embraced The Haven by Norwegian." said Dana Gain, National Director, Sales – Canada at Norwegian Cruise Line. "It affords them the opportunity to significantly expand their client base by incorporating the small-ship luxury experience into the broader appeal of the contemporary cruise. Since the Haven complex on our Jewel class boasts the largest villas at sea on a moderately-sized ship, it’s really the best of both worlds for our travel partners and our guests."
Other notable changes:
* Cagney’s Steakhouse, one of Norwegian Pearl’s most popular Freestyle Dining venues, received upgrades to carpets, artwork, furniture upholstery and window treatments.
* Moderno Churrascaria now has a more elegant and modern setting, featuring new tables and chairs, wall laminates, new granite bar tops in the restaurant’s bar and salad bar areas, and a new glass-door entrance.
* O’Sheehan’s Bar & Grill now offers a more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with modern flooring and an entirely refurbished bar, featuring new granite tops and lighting fixtures, and new wall finishes throughout the restaurant. Tables and chairs were refreshed and banquet seating was added for larger parties.
* The Great Outdoors bar and the Sky High bar both received new flooring, with Sky High Bar also receiving new furniture and a new bar facade.
* Norwegian Pearl’s famed pool deck received fresh flooring and paint as well as refurbished whirlpools.
Norwegian Pearl is currently sailing from Miami through April, offering round-trip sailings through the Panama Canal and itineraries to the Western Caribbean, before repositioning to her summer homeport of Seattle for seven-night sailings to Alaska.
"Our travel partners will be very excited when they see Norwegian Pearl’s new look." said Gain. "The highly popular 7-day Alaska sailing from Seattle is just a 3-hour drive from Vancouver, so all of our travel partners, particularly those in Western Canada, can offer a truly unique sailing with an easy-access drive port on a ship that looks better than new."
