WOW air Announces New Route Between Canada and Tel Aviv

WOW air, Iceland’s ultra, low-cost carrier (ULCC), will begin four times weekly service to Tel Aviv, Israel starting September 12, 2017, allowing travellers in both Montreal and Toronto to fly to Israel’s cosmopolitan city via a connection in Keflavík International Airport (Reykjavik).
"We are thrilled to add Tel Aviv to our growing list of overseas destinations for Canadians," says Skúli Mogensen, CEO of WOW air. "By adding a third continent to our ever-expanding roster of destinations, we can continue connecting Canadians with their dream destinations at the best possible prices."
"We set a goal to bring new airlines to Israel, so I'm happy and congratulate WOW air, which is known for its long haul low cost flights, on its entry into Israel in cooperation with the Israeli tourism ministry," says Yariv Levin, Israel Minister of Tourism. "I'm confident the launching of this new historic route will significantly increase the number of tourists traveling to Israel from Iceland, Canada and the US, and will also contribute to the unprecedented trend of growth in the number of tourists visiting Israel over the last number of months."
WOW air claims to be offering ‘one of the lowest fares ever” to Tel Aviv with oneway fares starting as low as $199 CA including tax. As a ULCC, however, the airline charges for items such as carry-on baggage ($63.99 CA in advance, or $88.59 CA at check-in), and seat assignment (starting at $11.99 CA).
Passengers flying from either Montreal or Toronto to Tel Aviv will also be able to take advantage of the WOW Stopover program and spend time in Iceland for as long as they wish at no additional charge. Which might make sense on the outbound flight for many Canadian travellers, given that the connection time for Toronto/Montreal to Tel Aviv flights at Keflavík Airport is over 13 hours.
Tickets to Tel Aviv may be booked now on WOW air's website.
