WestJet has set two records for guests flown in a single day.
On Wednesday, December 20, 2017, the airline flew just over 75,000 guests, while on December 22 the airline flew 80,000 guests across its network. Both days surpass the previous record of 74,600 set on December 23, 2016.
"We are very proud to have Canadians choose WestJet for their holiday travel," said Ed Sims, WestJet Executive Vice-President, Commercial. "On behalf of more than 13,000 WestJetters, we would like to thank our guests for choosing to fly with us throughout the year, and we extend our best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season."
The record was likely helped by the airline's recent recognitions, including: 2017 Five-Star Airline in the Low-Cost Category (The Airline Passenger Experience Association), 2017/2016 Canada's Most Trusted Airline (Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria) and 2017 Best Airline in Canada and Travellers' Choice Winner Mid-Sized and Low Cost Airlines – North America (TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice awards for Airlines).
