WestJet Re-Jiggers Rewards Program
Airlines & Airports Monica Poling February 07, 2017

Effective immediately, WestJet is rolling out an “enhanced and energized” WestJet Rewards program.
"We have been continuously working to make WestJet Rewards the best rewards program available to Canadians, and these changes reflect these efforts," said Marshall Wilmot, WestJet Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Digital.
"As of today, WestJet Rewards has no more anniversary earn rate resets, no more changing earn rates at different spend levels, three easy-to-understand tiers and lower qualification to the Silver tier. We are known for listening to our guests and this program is tailor-made to meet the needs of travellers, making it easier than ever to receive flight benefits and travel for business or pleasure with WestJet."
Among the highlights of the changes, WestJet Rewards members will earn varying bonuses based upon their membership status. The levels include Teal, Silver and Gold levels. Rewards will be earned on flights and vacations packages and will be tied to member status as of the flight date.
Teal members will earn one per cent back on all flights flown and 0.5 per cent back on all vacation packages. What’s more, the earnings structure has been simplified for Teal members, encompassing just one earn rate on flights and packages.
Silver members will earn three per cent on flights and one per cent on vacation packages. To reach the Silver level, members can now spend $1,000 less than on the previous program.
For Gold members, the earnings jump to 5 per cent on flights but remain at one per cent on travel packages. Also being rolled out for Gold members is a new priority support phone number, available exclusively through the WestJet app
Other Gold level benefits include two free checked bags on all flights, advance boarding, complimentary same-day flight changes at check-in, 10 vouchers to enter WestJet airport lounge, four vouchers for advance seat selection, and priority screening at select airport security checkpoints.
