If you’ve been meaning to check out WestJet’s premiere service, but you’re just in too deep with points and rewards programs at other airlines and global alliance partnerships, now is the perfect time for a “test drive.”
That’s because WestJet is rolling out a matching program, in which members of any airline or travel reward program in the world will have the opportunity to obtain Gold Status in the WestJet Rewards program.
Although this is the third time WestJet has offered a matching program to frequent Canadian flyers, it is the and the first time WestJet has offered status match to members of all top-tier airline and travel status programs.
"In six years, we have built a loyalty program that we believe offers the best value to the travelling public," said Bob Cummings, WestJet executive vice president, commercial. "We recognize that it can take a long time to reach gold status when starting with a new program and we believe so strongly in our offering we invite loyalty members from any airline or travel rewards program to get gold status from a company that really cares."
Gold member benefits in the WestJet Rewards program include two free checked bags, 10 vouchers to use at WestJet airport lounges, advance seat selection vouchers for four flights, no fee to change to an earlier or later flight on the same day of travel, advance boarding and priority security screening at select airports.
To be eligible for Gold status, members must provide proof of their top-tier status, prior to September 23, 2016, in an alternate program. They must also sign up to become a member of WestJet Rewards and take a WestJet-marketed flight by Oct. 31, 2016.
