Starting June 29, 2016, Canadians will be able to fly non-stop between Halifax and Vancouver, thanks to the introduction of new seasonal service from WestJet. The airline is also launching non-stop service between Halifax and Winnipeg.
"WestJet is the only airline in Canada offering non-stop flights to Halifax from Vancouver and Winnipeg. We are introducing these routes on a seasonal basis to allow WestJet the opportunity to test the market while providing our guests more choice and convenience along with our low-fare, high-care service," said Lee Lipton, WestJet Director, Network and Schedule Planning. "We are well positioned for success with the high travel demand during the summer season. We continue to look for opportunities to better serve our guests as market demand permits."
When these flights launch, WestJet will offer 13 routes from Halifax Stanfield International Airport, 13 routes from Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport and 29 routes from Vancouver International Airport for a combined total of 116 daily flights.
The new service will be operated on WestJet's Boeing 737 aircraft. Flights from Vancouver to Halifax begin June 29, 2016, operating four times a week through Sept. 3, 2016. Flights between Winnipeg and Halifax begin July 2, 2016 and will operate four times a week through Sept. 6, 2016.
