Transat Says No Disruptions Expected from Thomas Cook Collapse

Air Transat says they are expecting no disruption to their schedules after the Thomas Cook collapse Monday, despite having a seasonal partnership with the tour operator.
In an interview with TravelPulse Canada, spokesman Christophe Hennebelle, VP Human Resources and Public Affairs, said "there is no immediate consequence whatsoever on our schedule."
The company had an airplane exchange in place with Thomas Cook, and was in its second year of the deal, announced in 2017, which allowed Transat to send them one or several A330s while Transat received at least seven A321s in the winter.
"For the coming months, we are currently working on making sure we will receive the planes we expect and are confident that there will be no disturbances for our clients," Hennebelle added.
Transat is currently in the process of being purchased by Air Canada and Hennebelle says when complete, it will obviously change the way the company is looking at the utilization of their aircraft, "but it is too early to know anything specific on the matter."
Thomas Cook collapsed on Monday following months of speculation the company was in financial trouble. About 600,000 travellers were stranded across the world while CEO Peter Fankhauser made an apology on BBC to customers.
