Sunwing Extends Cancellations from Regina

Sunwing has cancelled all of their winter flights out of Regina effective Feb. 4, 2023 due to "extenuating circumstances."
In a statement sent to travel agents Tuesday, the airline says the cancellations will impact weekly flights from Regina to Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic with the exception of departures to Puerto Vallarta starting on Feb. 5, and flights scheduled for Family Day weekend departures to Puerto Vallarta on Feb. 17, and Cancun on Feb. 18 and 20. Sunwing says Travel advisors will be notified as per their protocol.
Sunwing claims that the cancellations are “necessary due to operational and business constraints that would prevent us from delivering the standards of service our customers in Regina both expect and deserve when travelling with Sunwing.”
"We sincerely apologize to our valued travel advisors in the region for the inconvenience and disruption to our mutual customers travel plans," the statement read.
Travellers are being offered departures from Winnipeg, Saskatoon or other Canadian airports at originally booked priced, pending availability. Full refunds will also be available.
The airline had resumed flights from Saskatchewan in November. Sunwing had previously cancelled all of their Saskatchewan operations in December until Feb. 3, 2023.
"We thank our valued travel advisor community for their ongoing support and understand the past few years and as we work through operational constraints this winter season."
