The company hasn’t even delivered its first passenger yet and already it’s expanding. NewLeaf Travel, which saw some turbulent times during its first launch attempt, has announced it is expanding its flight map with a new non-stop route between Edmonton and Winnipeg.
The flights are on sale now and during the introductory phase can be booked for $99 one way. Flights will run on Thursdays and Sundays starting Aug. 21, 2016.
“We are very happy to announce this new, economical route between the Manitoba and Alberta capital cities,” said NewLeaf Chief Executive Officer Jim Young. “Canadians have responded exceptionally well to our direct flights between destinations, and we are pleased to expand this service.”
The new route expands NewLeaf Travel’s operations in Edmonton, which will begin direct flights to Hamilton, Kamloops and Abbotsford starting next week.
NewLeaf Travel works with Flair Airlines to offer airline fares that are significantly lower than other Canadian carriers. NewLeaf plans to keep its airfares low, primarily by utilizing smaller airports that have lower landing fees. Customers can purchase seats starting from $79 one way, but all extras, including carry-on and checked baggage, priority boarding, and call centre assistance will cost an additional fee.
NewLeaf Travel Company Inc. is a privately-held Canadian company headquartered in Winnipeg.
