For the second time in as many days, a Flight Attendant has been assaulted in-flight, this time on a WestJet flight from Toronto to Vancouver.
On Friday, WestJet flight WS709 had departed Toronto Pearson Airport for Vancouver at approximately 11:40 AM, but minutes into the flight turned back for Toronto due to a mechanical issue.
“During this return to Pearson, a passenger became unruly and assaulted a flight attendant,” Const. Mark Fisher told AM 640. “He also caused damage in the bathroom of the plane but it did not affect the integrity of the plane.”
A Vancouver man, Randy Paholko, 68, was arrested on arrival in Toronto and has been charged with assault, endangering aircraft and two counts of mischief.
Earlier last week, a passenger on an Air Canada Rouge flight from Toronto to Budapest was arrested and charged with uttering death threats, aggravated assault and endangering an aircraft while in flight after he attacked a flight attendant and the aircraft, which had just passed Montreal, was forced to return to Toronto.
