Canadian agents and consumers may soon have another option for trips to the Dominican Republic.
The Spanish tourism group Barcelo is talking about operating an airline that would be based in the DR and fly to Canada, the U.S. and Latin America.
According to the website Dominican Today, the new Iberojet airline could be up and running by the end of this year.
It would certainly make things interesting for agents and consumers, as well as for Canadian airlines that currently rely on hordes of Canadians heading to Punta Cana and other vacation spots in the Dominican.
The Avoris Corporacion Empresarial, a company resulting from the merger between Barcelo and Globalia travel agencies, “is currently working on changing the internal and external headstock makeover, labeling, tickets, etc., to have it ready in two months, the scheduled date for the entire fleet to display its new logo,” the website said.
