Swoop is resuming its flights to the U.S.
The ultra-low-cost airline from WestJet was forced to cancel says it has that Swoop has received its final operating approval and will be resuming its U.S. schedule, as stated, on October 27, 2018.
“Swoop would again like to apologize to our valued travellers for the inconveniences they have experienced and reassure travellers with upcoming flights that everything is in place,” the company said in a press release this morning.
Swoop said its inaugural Edmonton to Mesa, Arizona flight will take off tomorrow at 8 a.m. as originally scheduled and the previously affected Vegas, Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale routes will resume scheduled operations as follows:
October 27
Edmonton to Mesa
Edmonton to Las Vegas
Hamilton to Orlando
Hamilton to Tampa Bay
October 28
Abbotsford to Las Vegas
Hamilton to Las Vegas
November 2
Hamilton to Fort Lauderdale
Swoop was forced to apologize last week after being forced to cancel 56 flights, leaving customers in the lurch.
Swoop officials say they sold tickets to U.S. destinations based on expected government approvals, a practice they say is common in the aviation industry. But some of those approvals didn’t arrive in time, forcing the Calgary-based airline to cancel almost five dozen flights.
A Swoop spokesperson told TravelPulse Canada that they were able to protect PAX on 32 of those 56 cancelled flights by rebooking them on planes from their parent company, WestJet. The other 24 were out of luck.
