Air Transat Voted Second Best North American Leisure Airline
Airlines & Airports Brian Simpson June 20, 2017

Air Transat was ranked the second Best Leisure Airline in Skytrax’ 2017 World Airline Awards. But since the World's Best Leisure Airline was Thomson Airways out of the U.K., Air Transat is claiming the title of Best North American Leisure Airline even though it was not an official category at Skytrax' 2017 World Airline Awards. The airline has now "held the title" for six years in a row, having first claimed it in 2012.
"It is an honor to be recognized by this prestigious international award for the sixth consecutive year", says Jean-François Lemay, president-general manager of Air Transat. “Thanks to our on-board experience, attentive crew and cabin comfort, passengers feel on vacation as soon as they board the aircraft.”
“Families also benefit from special attention, including priority check-in and boarding, as well as our Kids Club that keeps youngsters busy.” continued Lemay. “Finally, our Option Plus and Club Class upgrades, as well as our recently enhanced meal offer with the Chef’s Menu by Daniel Vézina, help get the vacation started even before reaching the destination.”
Skytrax’ annual World Airline Awards began in 1999 when Skytrax launched its first global, airline passenger satisfaction survey. The survey collects travellers’ opinions on 325 airlines around the world, from the largest international carriers to smaller domestic and regional carriers. Data was collected worldwide between August 2016 and May 2017 in 105 countries using the feedback from almost 20 million passengers. The airlines are then ranked according to quality standards across 41 key performance indicators in front-line products and services in the airport and onboard environments.
Air Transat was also ranked #2 in the World’s Best Leisure Airline category and #9 in the Best Airlines in North America category.
