Air Canada has announced new service from both Toronto and Montreal as part of its 2018 summer programme, adding flights to Zagreb, Porto and Buenos Aires from Toronto; Lisbon from Montreal; and Bucharest from both cities. The airline is also shifting its year-round Montreal-Casablanca service from Air Canada Rouge to Air Canada mainline starting in June 2018 and upgrading its planned seasonal service from Montreal to Lima to year-round.
Air Canada Mainline will begin new service from Toronto to Buenos Aires, which is currently served via one-stop service through Santiago, starting May 2, 2018 while Air Canada Rouge will operate the new, seasonal nonstop service to Zagreb, Porto and Bucharest starting in June 2018.
"Today's announcement further solidifies Air Canada's position as a leading global carrier.” said Benjamin Smith, president, passenger airlines at Air Canada. “With these new services, Air Canada becomes the only North American airline flying to Romania and we are now offering the most weekly seats and frequencies from Canada to Portugal and Croatia."
Earlier this month, Air Canada announced that they are beefing up their service to Ireland for summer 2018 out of both Montreal and Toronto, using brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. And last month, the airline announced several new routes from Vancouver, including seasonal service to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Zurich, increased service to Delhi, twice-daily flights to London Heathrow, and the conversion of its planned seasonal Melbourne service to year-round. Air Canada continues its international expansion as Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft are delivered.
"…with our modernized fleet we are able to enhance our existing services, by deploying our Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a new non-stop route to Buenos Aires.” Smith continued. “Together, these new and enhanced services will provide customers greater comfort and choice, as well as the ability to conveniently connect onward through our extensive North American and International network, on North America's Best Airline as rated by Skytrax."
